I'm Dreaming of a Painted Staircase

I really want the stairs going down to the basement to be funky, and different.  So when people see them, they say "ooooh cool stairs!" Here are some inspiration photos I've been looking at.

 Southern Living
I think these are my favorite
And here are our stairs so far, we managed to rip the carpet off over the weekend.
So. many. staples.

Me and my man did a happy dance when we saw that the stair treads were rounded instead of flat on the edges. Makes for a much more elegant step :)
Any ideas for painting my stairs?

love the look of the third down. i don't see you with orange, but i like the thick runner style it has.

When my husband and I were house hunting I remember walking into this one house and saying, "oh wow, look at those stairs"! They were painted a fun yellow. Yellow stairs wouldn't work in everyone's house but for this particular house it worked really well. My husband and I frequently talk about those stairs. We loved them! I like the first image...that's a fun color. I can't wait to see what color you choose! Have fun with it!

I like all of the idea but the steps with the sign inspired treads is so cool. If I had a choice I would pick that one.

I love the idea of a white riser with a fun color on the tread, like the first picture. The over all look is a traditional one, but obviously the fun color gives it an unexpected twist.
