Am I the only one who actually looks forward to taking down the Christmas mess, I mean decoration.  After Christmas day, all of my lovely decor that has been up since the beginning of December is now starting to wear on my nerves.  Including the fact that all of my girls toys are scattered all over the living room, and the pretty wreath that I made is now dry and brittle and shedding all over my mantel.  It all has me a little excited today to get it all back to normal.
Anywhooie, I’ve been obsessing just a little bit about our kitchen.  Not much has happened since we moved in 4 years ago, we haven’t really had the funds.  But I’ve been doing a lot of research and realized you don’t have to be Donald Trump to have your dream kitchen.
Here are some colors that have been bouncing around
Recently Updated-001
Battenburg, Storm Cloud Gray, and Wythe Blue
I fell in love with this color pallet when I saw them on this house.
The gray I want for my walls is darker though.

I can’t wait for a weekend with out any interruptions so I can at least start priming my cabinets.  I will just have to continue to be patient because I know this is a long project I am about to embark on.
Have a wonderful New Year!!
What are your plans?

  1. Hi!

You asked about my tutorial about my floors in my kitchen. I don't really have a "tutorial" but here is a link where I talk about my kitchen: http://elizabethhousestlouis.blogspot.com/2009/04/from-soup-kitchen-to-super-kitchen-part.html

and if you go on my blog and click on the side bar where my kitchen appeared on the Apt therapy blog, I answered a lot of questions there and give a lot of tips that may help.

    Have a great new year!

  2. I totally feel the same as you about the Christmas "mess". Maybe when the kiddos are older it will be more enjoyable? We have a family tradition to leave it all up until New Year's Day. If I'm earlier than that I get the "GRinch" label, haha!
I've always liked the brown family more than the grays but I'm with you on the colors of that house! Pairing it with blue and white make it fun! (Yes, I realize my tastes are quickly becoming outdated ;0
    Happy Painting!!!

  4. I took my stuff down the day after Christmas and I don't have little ones. I am an organization freak and all that stuff drives me nuts. Happy New Year to you!

  6. Oh how I love your color choices. The white and blue are my favorites. I'm currently trying to figure out what color to paint my living room which really needs something fast. It's just so hard to pick a color.

  8. Hi Kathleen,

I'm visiting from Primitive & Proper and I love your style!

Though this post is a couple weeks old, I just had to comment because I have two of those colors in my house and I can highly recommend them!

We added a bunch of beadboard to the sheetrocked walls in our house in 2010 and painted them Linen White--it's a gorgeous, creamy white and perfect for a vintage look. We also painted our laundry room Wythe Blue and it's one of my favorite colors in the whole house.

Good luck re-doing your kitchen! I've painted my cabinets twice now and it's a pain in the a$# but worth it in the end. :)

    Take care,
    Erin
