And another...

My house is overflowing right now with all of the items I'm bringing to the barn sale. My almost 3 year old is climbing all over like it's a playground. I have to keep reminding her "you break it, you buy it!"
Here is yet another dresser I'm selling, what can I say dressers sell like hot cakes around here.

I added fabric strips to the drawers and gave the hardware a faux oxidized look. I will be doing a tutorial of how I did it next week.

Overall the piece was in great condition, painting the whole thing wasn't an option.

I went back and forth on whether I should include the mirror, but it was too beautiful not to.

Antique Buffet

You know those days when everything lines up perfectly so that you can be in the right place at the right time?
Well, I happened upon one of those days a few months back. Just out walking around my neighborhood and I saw this piece lying on it's back out by the curb. I thought to myself, "That must be in pretty bad shape if they are throwing it out". Which it was. But I knew I could make it pretty again.

However it did need a good deal of work, check out the before.

I had to peel off a lot of the veneer and sand, sand, sand... oh, yeah and sand some more.

I re-finished the top with a walnut stain. I used a color I had loved on this piece, called Woodlawn Vally Haze by Valspar.

Shabby Chic Lamp Make Over

I bought these nice, sturdy lamps at the thrift store last week. I had really wanted to re-do some lamps for the Barn Sale and these were just right for the project I had in mind. They are in perfect condition and had amazing lines.

Paint is a celery green color, white lamp shade with pretty ruffles line the bottom.

Decorators' Show House

A few weeks ago I was invited to attend a media preview for the 42^nd Annual Decorators’ Show House & Garden. I knew next to nothing about this event, but it turned out to be one of the most highly anticipated events in the southeast. The Decorators' Show House & Gardens is one of several fund-raising events of the Atlanta Symphony Associates. This year it it being held at the Knollwood house. Built in 1929, and despite being located in the middle of busy Buckhead, the property seems like an elegant home in the country.

I was one of the lucky bloggers invited to tour the house before the opening night. It was SO FUN! Each room in the house is decorated by a different designer. I was able to go through each room and speak to each design team about how and why they decorated the room the way they did. It was heaven for me, because I love interior design. I got so many great ideas for my home and to share with you.

Best part of the whole room, is this amazing floor!

This gallery wall follows you down the grand staircase.

It was breath taking. Hard to show the scale of how large it was. That one painting on the left was at least 6 ft tall.

And outside the peaceful gazebo. And Pool.

The Atlanta Symphony Associates has announced a series of special events as part of the Show House this year. Special presentations — including lectures, book signings, wine tastings, and cooking demonstrations will be held at Knollwood.
