Exhibit A~ Before It also had a good bit of dings and scratches. Exhibit B~
Exhibit C~The top was also a little worse for wear.
But nothing a little sand paper and elbow grease couldn't fix!Are you ready? First another before~
Here she is in all her glory~
AFTER
I decided to go with the original hardware, but obviously I changed the color a bit.
I used a mix of oops paint, a light gray mixed with a bright white.
Then I used an antique glaze and heavily distressed it. I spray painted the handles Heirloom White by Rustoleum.
And one more, just because she's cute~
I absolutely LOVE it! Thanks for stopping by, have a great day :)
PS- I'm sorry there is not a more detailed "how to" on the piece, it was a very difficult process and I'm not sure I'm ready to relive it yet. I'm linking this post to

ReplyDeleteYour work is gorgeous. Do you use a sprayer or brush to paint? I'm starting my first piece, and can't justify buying a sprayer.

ReplyDeleteThis piece turned out lovely. I know that chippy veneer and vintage hardware can be hard to work with and you did a wonderful job. A perfect balance between updating the piece without killing the character.

ReplyDeleteStopping in from Better After..
ReplyDeleteMy mom just brought me a complete bedroom set of a very similar style (and condition) furniture with a mirrored vanity, tall chest with mirror, and full headboard/footboard/rails. It belonged to my great aunt, but was stored in a basement for many years and got "some" water damage. I wanted to redo it but I didn't have a clue until I saw this and now I have hope that it's gonna be beautiful once again. I love your style!
Hey! I am a friend of Jamies, met you at a couple of parties. I love your work. I am wanting to hire someone to paint my oak kitchen cabinets. Let me know if you would be interested.
