2014 Decorators' Showhouse

I'm dropping in today to share some photos with you of the Atlanta Decorators Show house and Gardens show I was invited to again this year.  It's being held at the Palazzo Rosa House in Buckhead and it will be open until May 18th.

I've never been busier in my life, this is a season in time where I sometimes don't even know what day it is.  But I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

I plan to start picking up the furniture painting thing again really soon.  I need a little something in my life that's just for me right now, also we could use the extra moolah.


All right, now for some beautiful eye candy.

This was my favorite room in the house.

I thought the idea for these curtains here was a unique idea.

This would be my spot.

For some reason I didn't get a good shot of the kitchen, but these were in the window.

Baby

I feel like I've been taken by a tornado, spun around a few hundred times and spit back out somewhere over in Alabama. 

Our sweet baby boy arrived about five weeks ago, and life has never been the same.  We finally got his room together about two weeks after he arrived.

We decided to make it a nursery/guest bedroom.  

 I sewed the bumper with some classic grey and white striped fabric.

The skirt is a dark grey linen.

I got this great idea for the pictures above his crib from surfing around on Etsy.

I used and old Encyclopaedia for the paper, and images I found online.

Fixed them up a bit in photo shop, and created a one of a kind piece of art.

Next up, big girl bed re-do for daughter #2.

Lately

We still have quite a bit to do before our new baby boy arrives.  I've been crossing off my to-do list frequently, but several things still remain.

Can't wait to show you the reveal of my 2 year olds new big girl room.  She still seems a little young to be transitioned into a big girl bed, but we have no choice.  This baby is coming and he needs the crib.

I've also been working on the new crib bedding, still have to sew the bumper.  Finding the time is difficult, every body seems to want to "help" when I drag out the sewing machine.

I hope you all stick around to see the new changes we will be making.  Although posts will continue to be sporadic, I thoroughly enjoy showing new projects to you!

Finished Bench

This piece of furniture, not sure what it was intended to be, was found down by my neighbors trash one day.  I'm thinking it may have been a part of a radio cabinet, maybe?  Let me know if you have any ideas.

A couple of weeks ago I showed you this area by my back door that we are turning into a semi-mudroom.  Over the weekend I finally finished the bench by putting on the nail head trim.

 

The top of this piece was open when I found it.  So I just used a wood board I had on hand to nail to the top, and then used foam, batting and drop cloth fabric to make the cushion.

The cabinets are perfect for holding shoes.

Dresser Turned Linen Chest

We had a nice long rain storm last night that brought in a crisp new feeling to the air.

Along with this new cold front coming, I finally got the urge to paint the dresser that has been sitting on my porch since before I found out I was pregnant.

That was about 6 months ago.

The cabinet doors were in bad shape, and as adorable as they were, I decided to take them off.

In doing so I turned it into a linen chest.  It would be perfect in a hallway, bathroom or guest room.

The color is Woodlawn Valley Haze by Valspar.

Barn Wood Shelf

We are half way finished with a small project we've been working on by the back door. 

 I'd been dreaming of a quaint little mudroom area near the back of my kitchen for years now.  A place for my family to organize their shoes, bags, coats and other catch all items.

Simply typing "barn wood shelf"  into Craigslist, directed me to a nice guy who had some old barn wood and made these shelves in his spare time.  He used my inspiration picture from Pinterest.  And I got the hooks from Hobby Lobby. 

It's exactly what this space needed.  Previously there was just a small basket to hold everything.  Which was always spilling out onto the floor and becoming a tripping hazard.

Still working on the bench below.  It needs a top and I will make a cushion for it.

The "bench" was a roadside find :)

 Between being almost 7 months pregnant and taking care of my wee ones, projects are just so hard to complete.  I will be sharing the full project once the bench is completed.
